How does Climate Change affect Human Life?
Climate change has a significant
impact on the geological, biological, and ecological systems of the Earth.
These changes have resulted in the emergence of environmental hazards to human
health, such as extreme weather, ozone depletion, increased wildfire danger,
biodiversity loss, stress on food-producing systems, and the global spread of
infectious diseases. The clinical study was developed by a group of
environmentalists who believe that the current and future effects of climate
change on human society are and will continue to be devastatingly negative.
How does Climate Change affect human life?
The main cause of climate change
is the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, but any factor that
causes a sustained change in the amount of incoming or outgoing energy can
cause climate change. Climate change has an impact on the following factors,
which are discussed further below.
Health
Climate and weather have always
had an impact on human health because climate change and variability affect the
environment that provides us with clean air, food, water, shelter, and
security. According to the World Health Organization's Commission on Social
Determinants of Health report, disadvantaged communities are likely to bear a
disproportionate share of the burden of climate change due to their increased
exposure and vulnerability to health threats such as:
(a) Climate change affects the
air we breathe both indoors and outdoors. Warmer temperatures and shifting
weather patterns can exacerbate air quality, resulting in asthma attacks and
other respiratory and cardiovascular health effects.
(b) People suffering from mental
illnesses are particularly vulnerable to extreme heat; studies have found that
having a pre-existing mental illness triples the risk of death during heat
waves.
Environment
The greenhouse effect raises
atmospheric temperatures. Plants and animals are harmed by rising temperatures
because they cannot withstand even a minor increase in temperature and become
extinct. Crop production will be harmed as atmospheric temperatures rise due to
decreased efficiency of water use and photosynthesis. People will face a food
shortage as crop production declines.
Because of the increase in
temperature, the ice cap of the polar region and the hill top begin to melt,
and the water from the melted ice flows to the sea, raising the sea level. As a
result, the coastal area will be inundated, with many villages, townships, and
cities submerged.
Migration and Displacement
Climate change has also had an
impact on people's migration and displacement due to an increase in the number
and severity of weather-related disasters that destroy homes and habitats,
forcing people to seek shelter or livelihoods elsewhere. Climate change effects
such as desertification and rising sea levels gradually erode livelihoods and
force communities to abandon traditional homelands in search of more hospitable
environments.
As a result, we can say that the
effects of climate change have the potential to affect not only human health,
but also the factors of life processes all over the world. As a result, we must
prepare for and evolve adaptability to changes such as early warning systems
for heat waves, taking steps to reduce vulnerabilities among vulnerable
populations, raising awareness among healthcare professionals, and ensuring
that infrastructure is built to accommodate anticipated future climate changes.
